In 2023, Agro-Region company set one of the most impressive records in the Ukrainian agricultural sector: 12.25 tons of wheat per hectare. This result was officially recorded by representatives of the National Record Registry of Ukraine in a field in Velyka Oleksandrivka village (Kyiv region). This indicator became the highest officially documented winter wheat yield in the history of independent Ukraine. Behind these numbers stands not just favorable weather or a good year, but decades of systematic work, technology, and thoughtful management.
Who is Agro-Region
Agro-Region is one of Ukraine’s most successful agricultural holdings with assets in Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Zhytomyr regions. The company cultivates over 41,000 hectares of agricultural land, grows grain and oilseed crops, and actively implements precision farming, data analysis technologies, field profitability accounting, and sustainable management approaches.
The holding’s principles are transparency, technological advancement, and scientific approach. Agro-Region not only applies the most modern agricultural technologies but also invests in agricultural education, conducts experiments on their own demo fields, trains young people, and shares practices with the agricultural community. Their fields are open-air laboratories.
How Such a Wheat Yield Was Achieved

The record winter wheat yield is the result of many components:
- Hybrid and Seeds: the record crop used the RGT Reform variety from French company RAGT Semences, which demonstrates high disease resistance and adapts well to Ukraine’s climatic conditions.
- Nutrition System: a balanced fertilization program was applied, focusing on starter fertilizers, microelements, and multiple application phases during vegetation.
- Plant Protection: Agro-Region’s agronomists selected a comprehensive protection scheme that included fungicides, insecticides, and retardants. Special attention was paid to weed and disease control in early stages.
- Precision and Analytics: the farm uses NDVI monitoring, soil analysis, weather stations, and digital agronomy. Every hectare is under the control of both the agronomist and the management system.
- Technological Discipline: strict adherence to the technological map is one of the holding’s cornerstone principles. Performing all work at the right time, with precise rates and depths — a factor often underestimated but critical for high results.
Why Set Such Records?
For Agro-Region, this record is not an end in itself but confirmation that Ukrainian farming can be not only profitable but also scientifically based and highly technological. The company emphasizes that the record is the result of a large team’s work, knowledge system, and continuous improvement.
Moreover, such achievements work for the country’s brand. Ukraine is one of the world’s agricultural production leaders, and examples like Agro-Region demonstrate that we can not only export raw materials but also set global quality standards.
Conclusions for the Agricultural Community

12.25 t/ha is not magic or coincidence. It’s an example of how proper seeds, competent nutrition management, flexible protection approach, and digital analytics can yield fantastic results. And although not every farm has access to all the technologies or resources of agricultural holdings, Agro-Region’s experience is a source of inspiration for small and medium-sized farmers.
Even if breaking the record isn’t your goal, you can learn from the best, adapt specific practices, and achieve steady growth in your field’s profitability.
